5K in 2 weeks? .. Oh My!


I was just surfing on the internet tonight for Chinese New Year events happening in the city these next few weeks.  And I came across the Chinese New Year Run 2012.  Having to sign up for the San Francisco Marathon on July 31, I figured this would be a good way to practice.  So I sucked it up and just signed up for the race tonight.

The Chinese New Year Run is an annual fundraiser benefitting Chinatown YMCA's Physical Education Program and Community Center, which serves 1,600 youth and families in Chinatown with wellness and community programs each week.

This is a 5k Run/Walk and a 10k Run .. guess which one I'm going to do ? This run is going to be in 2 weeks .. Having to have fallen off the wagon the last few weeks .. this would help me get back right on.  Although my 5k finish time isn't really want I want to see .. I hope to try and finish it a little faster.  I didn't want to run it solo since my friends did not want to do it, but I figured there are going to be about 2,000 people running ... I'll just be focused on trying to get to the finish line.

These next 2 weeks will be focused on trying to beat my old time.  One of my other friend is doing the 10k and she gave me some comforting words and told me to just have fun.  She is right! I'm just going to enjoy myself and focus on getting myself through the finish line.

  1. I just did my first of 12! 5ks for the year this last weekend! I did it by myself, and I have never felt better about myself I'm really glad I did it, even though I didn't do that great.
