5k Run Complete!!! -- A Runners High!

Well .. I did it .. I ran my first 5k on Sunday! And it was awesome!!! I woke up in the morning feeling nervous that I would have a hard time running since it was my first race. I used my Nike+ GPS app on my iPhone and I came in at 37:34.  I was surprised that I was able to run the whole thing.  I only walked for about 5 minutes of the whole route.

There were hundreds of runners at the starting line and as the race began we ran through the streets of Chinatown, Fishermans Wharf, Embarcadero and back up the Financial Disctrict to the finish line.  I thought my feet would hurt since it usually hurts when I run Lake Merced.  But the adrenaline in me kept me going.  Running this race was a milestone for me .. last year I would never have thought to actually do this.

After the race, my body was still yearning for a run.  It was a good feeling that I have never felt in my life .. to accomplish something that I have not done before.  Running across the finish line with people cheering is the best feeling ever.  I got a little emotional along the run but that just kept me going.  Nothing really stopped me.

To everybody who wants to try and run .. don't think about it .. just do it.  We all have our excuses to not really workout but that shouldn't stop you from getting to your goals.  Signing up for a race makes you accountable .. and will force you !  Even if its running for 1 mile or 12 miles ..

With the runners high that was still in me that day .. I was eagerly looking for other races that were in March.   I signed up for a run in San Jose on 3/11/2012.  It's called "The Race to the Row" 8k.  8k is roughly about 5 miles .. I know I can do this.  If I did the 5k with a breeze I can battle the 8k like nothing.

If anybody wants to sign up for "The Race to the Row" .. it would be great to have a running buddy to give each other motivation! I'm ready to start the battle again for this upcoming race .. !

Look at the official running photos that were sent to my email from the race! It's freaking awesome!
