I Can & I Will -- The San Jose 408k Race

Well I did it again! I did a race in San Jose!  The San Jose 408k race was this past Sunday 3/11/2012.  It was fun to run through the streets of San Jose and into Santana Row with the morning breeze blowing through my face.

If anybody isn't familiar with the runners jargon (not saying I know) 8 kilometers equal to 5 miles.  If you remember I ran a 5k (3miles) in February.  I have been wanting to find races to run at least once every month.  I have begun looking into races for the next few months and have come across a few that I will sign up for.

The 408k race was not as tiring as my first race.  Although I felt my feet hurting this time .. I tried to keep at a steady pace.  It was motivating to see 2,761 people up in the morning coming together to battle the race.  It took me 1:02:31 to get to the finish line.  I really wanted to finish the race in under 59 minutes.  I placed 2,199/2,761 .. the numbers reflect on how I did .. but it also reflects on my perseverance to accomplish things I have never done before.

This was a big accomplishment for me because I would have never thought to have ran this last year. I hope that this blog posting will inspire a few of my friends/readers to try and run a race as well.  Trust me, racing towards the finish line is the best ever!!!

  1. (stopping by your blog - thanks for stopping by mine) Great race wasnt it! Keep on running & having fun! As you look for races, check out these two sites: http://www.brazenracing.com and http://www.coastaltrailruns.com/. I really recommend Brazen - they are once a month, very organized, and very good for those of us just starting out! Take care!
