Working-out while vacationing ...

I will be heading on a vacation very soon and realized how I was going to incorporate my exercise routine while vacationing somewhere different without the necessities that I am use to. While I want to enjoy my vacation, I don't want to come back complaining how I gained a few pounds.  Extra pounds are easy to put on while on vacation because majority of the vacation is spent eating out at restaurants and grabbing something quick.

The question is essentially, how am I going to make sure that I don't feel guilty eating while vacationing?  Simple! I picked a hotel with a gym facility that has treadmills, weights, and a swimming pool.  I am also going to try and familiarize myself with the area and maybe do a run outside ... this way I can sight-see at the same time while getting a good workout.

Sight-seeing requires walking .. I know I'll be walking, so I will need a good pair of walking shoes as well.  I will be bringing my BodyMedia Fit armband along with me on this trip .. so it will keep me accountable of how many steps and calories I am burning.

Having a vacation shouldn't be just worrying about calories and excercise ... I need to have fun and enjoy myself.  I have to make the most of my vacation so I will have to do everything and anything I want.  If I miss a workout or indulge in one too many cocktails or yummy foods, I'll just have to carry on.  And I just need to return back to the regular routine when I come back home.

What are your suggestions in keeping your body moving while on a vacation?  I would love to read your comments.
