Running on my mind ..


This past weekend I had the chance to participate in 2 races.  One was the Brazen Summer Breeze 10k and the other was the Presidio Cross Country 5k.  The 10k was my first attempt to run 6.21 miles.  I came in about 1:10.  At mile 4-5 my body started to really shut down.  I didn't think I could go on because my body was telling me I couldn't do it anymore.  At that time I had to try and refocus on just running and getting the race done. At the end .. I think I did ok for my first 10k.  Now I will have to continue running to better my pace/time.

The Presidio Cross Country 5k was a race through the trails.  I ran in a group with my trainer Christina and the bootcamp students she teaches.  This race was very different because it was not the hard pavement that I am use to running to.  It was mostly sand, soil, and dirt.  Every step I took my feet would sink so it made me work harder with each stride.  There were hills and such which also made the run difficult as well .. all the other races that I have been in didn't have that much of an elevation.  At the end .. I did finally finish .. but felt very disappointed with the time because I knew I could of done better.

Overall this weekend has gone by very fast with running on my mind.  My next goal .. perhaps a 12k? I stumbled across this website WalkJogRun.net .. members of the site puts in running routes that they have found so they can share with other runners.  I found a route fairly close to my home and plan on trying it out .. that's if I don't get lost.
